I'm in a unique position where I'm the incoming student body president during a world wide
pandemic.
The job usually includes working on issues related to housing, food access, financial aid, and more.
While of course these are complex problems, they are comprehensible and one can build up a
working knowledge on most of what comes up on campus.
However, COVID changed the game. The majority of what myself, the student body, and the
University at large is focused on is something that has never happened in our life times. There's no
amount of outreach, lived experience, or working knowledge that can tell you the right way to
weather a pandemic and global economic shutdown in a way that best supports Brown students.
Despite my own personal struggles as a result of COVID, I try to show a strong face. This is both so
that administration takes what we say seriously and so that students can feel that there is still
someone advocating for them in a time where we need it most.
