"1651* - Please LIKE this post if you think students should be given the option to donate all or a portion of their Room & Board refunds to an emergency COVID-19 assistance fund for low-income students or to vulnerable communities in Providence? Maybe Brown could match that amount?
I ask this to gauge interest. I am working with several students to petition that the University do more to help low-income students who are at a particular disadvantage at this time. Although we don't believe this should be the responsibility of students, we know that many students in the Brown community are looking for ways to help and this might be a good way to do that. This type of collective action might be the morale boost we all need right now. It could be a way for our more privileged peers to leverage their class privilege in a way that benefits a group of students who often feel marginalized in the college community and serve as a clear message that we've got each other's back. "
