What’s the issue that Universal Pass supporters have with mandatory S/NC. Doesn’t it accomplish all of your goals except in the case where a student fails their class? And don’t you think in such a case they shouldn’t be allowed to move on without showing a mastery of the material on some level? I saw a post on here that argued that brown should offer any student that fails a class this semester additional resources to learn the final third of the material over the summer and let them test out of it/ receive an S on the transcript for it in the fall. If people are failing, regardless of if it is entirely due to unfair outside circumstances, they can’t just be allowed to move on, right? Wouldn’t that hurt the student in the long run? "
