Brown DPS has received reports of larcenies from vehicles on Lloyd Avenue last week. As always, keep valuables locked in your trunk and out of view. If you see something that is suspicious, call Brown DPS.
Suspicious activity is behavior and situations that appear to be out of place which may cause you concern for your safety or the safety of others. This includes, but is not limited to: a person looking into parked vehicles, a person ducking behind objects when people walk past, or a person entering a building through a fire escape. Some of these activities could be innocent, but it is important to consider the context of the situation. It is up to law enforcement to investigate further. Factors such as race, ethnicity, and/or religious affiliation are NOT suspicious.
Public safety and security is everyone’s responsibility. If you see suspicious activity, report it immediately and be prepared to give specific information. What did you see? Who did you see? When and where did it occur? Why is it suspicious to you? Trust your instincts and contact DPS or your local police department as soon as possible. If you have any other questions or concerns please email us at campus_safety@brown.edu and Be Safe Brown!
