not sure if this has been mentioned in the grades conversation yet but it feels important to note that in-person classes don’t transfer easily to online classes (online classes created to be online are a whole different beast!) and most profs don’t have experience teaching online classes so even if you’re doing well in your classes right now, that could change as the quality of learning and medium of communication changes! this switch has been really sudden and fast, which means that even profs experienced in online teaching are likely finding it difficult. making classes mandatory s/nc gives professors leeway to help their students succeed without worrying about replicating an in-person experience online (which isn’t really possible). your performance in your in-person classes so far this semester may not be reflected once classes start online.
