I am part of the marginalized community with family members that have autoimmune diseases and I AM DISGUSTED with how NO-UPASS is trying to speak for me. Because I am home now with family members at high-risk of contracting COVID19, do you understand that I have to do all the grocery store shopping, pharmacy medication pickup, and laundry at the coin-laundry store because our family WOULD’NT BE able to AFFORD TO PAY for a HOSPITAL BILL if one of us were to get Covid19. On top of all of this, I’ve picked up weekend shifts at Walmart to try and help my parents with supplementing their income, as they have had their work hours reduced. My goal in life is to go to Medical School, but if there was only optional S/NC, I wouldn’t have the privilege of opting in; medical schools wouldn’t see this grade as something mandated by the school, and therefore would not accept it. I SUPPORT UPASS AND RECOGNIZE THAT IT LEVELS OUT THE PLAYING FIELD FOR EVERYONE. WE ARE IN A PANDEMIC FOR GOD’S SAKE- do you not understand how SEVERE this whole covid19 situation is for A LOT OF MARGINALIZED PEOPLE????
To the NO-UPASS community, do you NOT CARE about marginalized people like me?"
