I was studying abroad in Japan earlier in the semester and I saw people buying like tons of masks and sending them in packages after packages back to their homes in China between January and February. It’s not illegal nor is it unethical, and it’s actually understandable, but it’s not okay to ridicule the mask shortage now around the world nor is it okay to blame the countries for their actions of imposing export bans on masks.
