With the spring semester now a few weeks underway, students, faculty and staff across campus are undoubtedly immersed in the experiences, academic and otherwise, that make Brown a vibrant place to live, work and study.
We also know and are concerned that many members of our community, and their family and friends, are contending with the reverberations of national and international challenges — from the implications of the new Coronavirus global public health emergency to experiences of isolation based on national origin. Others in our community are coping with a deeply distressing series of homophobic and anti-Semitic graffiti incidents in Hegeman Hall, which are a clear affront to the ideals of inclusion and individual sense of belonging that are essential to the Brown community.
In these instances, individuals, offices, student groups and others at Brown have taken steps to engage with and support those who are most directly impacted. In times of such importance, the Brown community has also gathered as a whole to demonstrate our shared commitment to supporting one another and honoring each other’s humanity.
We invite all members of the Brown community to gather together on the steps of the Stephen Robert '62 Campus Center on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m. as an affirmation of our campus commitment to inclusion. This shared community gathering will begin with reflections on our collective values. We’ll conclude with the opportunity to connect directly over conversation and refreshments.
Please join us as we come together to share in the strength of our collective, caring community.
Finally, please know that a wide range of resources and support options are available to any member of our community. Employees can find information and seek support through the Faculty/Staff Assistance Program:
