This talk will provide an overview of the evaluation of candidate COVID-19 vaccines, with a focus on the design of large Phase III efficacy trials. In these trials, thousands of participants are individually randomized to investigational vaccine or placebo control. Dr. Dean will discuss her group’s ongoing research into adaptive and flexible trial strategies tailored to the outbreak context, and describe how this work is influencing thinking about COVID-19 vaccine efficacy trials.
