Dear Student,
Petitions are in the process of being reviewed and responded to as the university transitions to remote learning. We are writing to share with you that your petition to remain in residence has been approved through the end of your existing housing contract in May. (Housing beyond May will be reviewed at a later date.)
Over the next few days, the University will be focusing its resources and energies to help students who need to depart campus. We ask for your patience on further instructions for what will happen for your situation. In the meantime, please keep in mind the following.
- Students remaining on campus through May will be moved to a new residence. For the time being, you will remain in your current assignment, but please begin organizing your belongings. Please allow students who are departing campus to make first use of the boxes.
- We hope to be able to communicate additional details regarding students’ new housing assignment by the end of this coming week. Students will be provided a few days in which to manage their relocation, and we will provide moving assistance to students whose rooms are packed.
- We will be in touch in the coming days to ensure that we have the information we need to meet students’ needs pertaining to SEAS accommodations, gender specific housing, substance free housing, etc.
- All students remaining on campus will be required to stay at Brown during Spring Break. Travel within Providence is permitted, but students are not permitted to travel away from Providence and then return to campus.
- Students on meal plans who remain on campus will continue to have access to meals. If your plans have changed and you are now planning to depart campus, it is important that you let us know. Please email studentsupport@brown.edu with any updates.
Again, we thank you for your patience during this difficult time. Please be assured we are doing all we can to organize resources and provide information to the community as quickly as possible. If you have immediate questions, please first review the information and FAQs at covid.brown.edu. We are also providing a phone bank through the Office of Residential Life at 401.863.3500.
Thank you.
