Dear Students,

You are receiving this email as a student who has been approved to remain in a University residence hall for
the remainder of the semester. Thank you for your patience as we work to support all Brown students during this difficult time. Please read this full message carefully.

We know you have many questions, and we ask for your understanding as we support your fellow students who have urgent needs as they depart campus today. We soon will provide further instructions regarding your campus living arrangements. However, we are writing to provide some preliminary information.

- As a student approved to remain on campus, you do not need to move today. You can remain in your current assignment until you receive further instructions. While you may have received previous messages about card access for departing students, your card access will remain available to you after 5 p.m. today.
- We will be following up with you soon about your housing assignment going forward. We will be
working closely with medical professionals in Health Services to identify the most appropriate housing
configuration for students remaining in residence. We hope to be able to move you to that location by March 29. We will communicate information to you in advance of that date. Plan to have your things packed and organized; we will provide moving assistance.
- We will be consulting with colleagues from SEAS (Student and Employee Accessibility Services) to ensure the needs of students with approved housing accommodations are being met.
- As noted, all students remaining in residence on campus will be required to stay at Brown as long as University restrictions are in effect. This includes Spring Break. Travel within Providence is currently permitted, but students are not permitted to travel away from Providence and then return to campus. Students must adhere to this requirement without exception.
- If you travel outside the immediate area at any time while University restrictions limiting offcampus movement are in effect, your approval to remain on campus may be revoked.
- Students who have permission to remain on campus will continue to have access to meals even if they are not currently on a meal plan. The Sharpe Refectory will have grab-and-go meals available for pick-up for breakfast (7 a.m. to 9 a.m.), lunch (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.), and dinner (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.).
- Mail services will be available moving forward from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Attached is some additional information about accessing various Campus Life offices and services in the coming days.

This is a serious public health emergency, and we remind you of the important steps we should each take to prevent the spread of illness. These include social distancing, washing your hands frequently, and refraining from gathering in groups. More information on self-care can be found on Brown’s COVID-19 website.

Again, we thank you for your cooperation and patience during this especially challenging period. Please be assured we are doing all we can to organize resources and provide information to the community as quickly as possible. If you have immediate questions, please first review the information and FAQs at covid.brown.edu. You can also contact us during business hours at (401) 863-3500 or via email at reslife@brown.edu.
