I am sick and tired of UCS forcing UPass on us. The email today was the. last. straw. I invite anyone on UCS to please comment on this because I am genuinely curious about what your response is to me. I am part of the group that will be hugely affected by having to go home. My family members were laid off, so I am currently the ONLY one in my family with a job. I will be tasked with earning an income for my family, taking care of family members, etc. etc. It will be significantly harder for me to do well in my classes now. I am lucky enough to have Wifi, but not being on campus and not being able to use campus technology will also make things significantly more difficult for me. So, now to my point. Despite the fact that I have a very difficult home life, i DO NOT want universal pass OR mandatory SNC. i’ve seen a lot of posts coming from other disadvantaged students that have been opposed to what you’re doing, the same group you seemingly advocate for. So UCS, you say the university isn’t listening to its students by extending the grade change deadline. But, are YOU listening to both sides of the argument either? You don’t seem to be, as you have NEVER acknowledged the views of the disadvantaged, or anyone, who don’t agree with you. Get off your high horse, you’re not better than the rest of the university. You don’t seem to be consulting anyone either, and you’re only listening to those who don’t agree with you. You’re supposed to represent the student body, but you are. not. As UCS elections are coming up, this is a really bad look. I don’t want to vote for anyone anymore because what you guys are doing is making me so upset. So UCS, have you actually spoken to those who don’t agree with you and listened to why? I’m genuinely interested in what you have to say. "
