I do not support universal pass because students should still be kept accountable for their learning and people should stop taking advantage during a difficult situation for everyone. Brown already told us that if we wanted to make all of our classes pass fail, we can, and it will not be looked down upon during this special time. Yes other prestigious universities (and even some grad schools) are doing Upass because they do not offer the flexibility of optional snc like Brown. Many students have already put in so much work during the first 2/3 of the semester and those who are on track to earn high letter grades should not have their efforts wasted. Guaranteed pass also means a decrease in class quality; are you really going to get up and learn with the same motivation knowing that skipping lecture and turning in mediocre work will get you the same grade as those who put in their best effort? No. In the UCS email for Upass they admitted they do not know how this will impact employment or grad school admissions, so why Upass people trying to push this onto everyone?? Let students make the best decision for themselves. "
